Interior designer shares tips on Mocha Mousse styling,

When most people think of brown interiors, they often envision dark and dated 1970s-era homes.

However, a Sydney interior designer explains that this perception isn’t necessarily accurate.

She has curated a list of her favorite ways to style the newly named Pantone 2025 Colour of the Year.

Pantone, renowned as the global color authority, announces its yearly Color of the Year selection.

This year, Pantone chose Mocha Mousse (Pantone 17-1230) as the standout shade for 2025.

In a press release announcing the selection, Pantone explained that the color reflected a “collective desire for connection and harmony.”

Additionally, the warm tones of chocolate and coffee appealed to the “desire for comfort” in today’s world.

Now, Justine Wilson, the founder of Sydney-based Vault Interiors, has shared her top ways to incorporate the color.

Mocha Mousse is predicted to be a major trend in 2025, according to Wilson’s expert insights.

Wilson describes Mocha Mousse as an incredibly versatile hue, perfect for a variety of interior styles.

She explains that the color works beautifully in both sleek, contemporary settings and warm, traditional designs.

Furthermore, it not only adds depth to any space but also fosters a comforting, grounded atmosphere throughout the room.

Mocha Mousse was selected by The Block 2024 contestants, Mimi and Kristian, for the cinema room in the clubhouse.

In this setting, Wilson shares her expert advice on how to introduce the colour into your home effectively.

Wilson notes that paint is one of the simplest ways to refresh your space without going overboard.

She suggests using Mocha Mousse as a feature wall to create a focal point in the living room or bedroom.

Alternatively, for a more subtle effect, try using the colour on trims, doors, or upcycling old furniture.

Layering with decor is another great way to incorporate the colour, whether you choose to use paint or not.

Wilson recommends adding layers of decor in similar tones, which creates visual interest and a cohesive atmosphere.

Consider incorporating vases, books, rugs, or cushion covers in shades of caramel, camel, and chocolate.

These elements work harmoniously to give your space both depth and warmth, making it feel inviting.

Fabric textures also provide another opportunity to bring Mocha Mousse into your home, according to Wilson.

Rich fabrics like chocolate velvet curtains or a Mocha Mousse-toned bedspread add a luxurious, cosy vibe to any room.

Even small touches, such as throw blankets or textured lampshades, can have a significant impact on the overall ambiance.

Wilson also suggests using artwork to highlight earthy tones and bring them into your home seamlessly.

Look for prints, paintings, or abstract pieces that feature warm browns, beiges, or other earthy tones.

Alternatively, get creative by framing a piece of textured wallpaper or fabric to create bespoke artwork for your space.

Lastly, Wilson encourages bringing nature indoors to enhance the earthy tones in your home.

You can introduce natural elements like magnolia leaves, pampas grass, or branches wrapped in fairy lights.

These details add warmth, texture, and an organic feel, creating a welcoming and serene atmosphere in any room.
