Kiwi millionaire lists Bondi Beach property $16M,
High-profile New Zealand property investor Ben Cook has recently attracted attention by reshuffling his professional property portfolio.
Currently, he is offloading his newly renovated Bondi Beach apartment located on coveted Notts Ave.
The listing agent, Alex Lyons from Raine & Horne Double Bay, is auctioning the two-bedroom, two-bathroom residence.
This impressive 178sqm apartment includes double garage parking and is set for auction on November 23, with a price guide of $16 million.
Lyons emphasized that this apartment is among the most unique available in Bondi, featuring a prime north-facing view.
Moreover, the view overlooks the iconic beach, enhancing its appeal to potential buyers.
Interestingly, a neighboring one-bedroom apartment recently sold for $11 million, setting a benchmark for the boutique building.
This particular building consists of only three apartments, making it more exclusive and desirable.
In addition, Cook, founder of Auckland-based Cook Property, sold a row of Bondi Beach shops in 2023 for a total of $30.8 million.
Furthermore, there is a rumored additional sale in the same Beach House Lane retail center, potentially raising Cook’s total to over $36 million.
In 2016, he purchased the beachside strip of 12 stores located off bustling Campbell Parade for $31.3 million.
According to the Cook Property website, the investor group has a strong focus on grocery and large-format retail in both countries.
Additionally, they own numerous Countdown supermarkets across New Zealand and a handful of profitable Bunnings Warehouses in Australia.

Cook made headlines by paying a record $56 million for the Bunnings store in the Eastgardens shopping complex back in 2015.
Later, he sold the property to Newmark Capital for an impressive $75 million in 2021, showcasing his investment acumen.
At 48 years old, Cook has appeared on New Zealand’s rich list for several years, reflecting his successful ventures.
In 2015, he purchased his Bondi Beach pied-à-terre for $3.925 million and has since completed a full internal renovation.
This renovation was designed by Stewart + Stewart Interior Designers, enhancing the apartment’s overall appeal and functionality.
Mr. Lyons remarked that it features the most tasteful renovation he has ever witnessed, complete with stunning views.
He noted that many Bondi Beach properties face east or south; however, this apartment uniquely boasts a rare north-facing orientation.
The designer property showcases curated interiors that harmonize with the dramatic ocean backdrop, maximizing the natural northern light.
Sophisticated white marble surfaces enhance the kitchen and both ensuites, contributing to the overall coastal aesthetic of the home.
The kitchen is equipped with high-end appliances, including Gaggenau ovens, a Vintec fridge, and Wolf induction cooktops, along with a large island.
Moreover, there is an integrated fridge and dishwasher, making it both stylish and practical for cooking enthusiasts.
In addition to the beach-facing terrace off the living room, the apartment features a Mediterranean-inspired courtyard that is beautifully designed.
This courtyard includes vines, a stone feature wall, built-in seating, and a cozy fire pit for outdoor gatherings.
Lyons described it as the perfect entertainer’s apartment, featuring space for a dining table that accommodates eight guests comfortably.
There are also two bars and several options for alfresco dining, enhancing the overall entertaining experience.
Conveniently, the famous Icebergs restaurant is located just downstairs and offers dinner delivery service to the apartment.
Both bedrooms come equipped with built-in wardrobes, outdoor access, and ensuites, including a luxurious spa-like retreat off the main bedroom.
This retreat features twin ceiling showers, a freestanding bath, and dual vanities for a touch of luxury.
Additionally, there is a convenient powder room available for guests, enhancing the apartment’s functionality.
Bonus features of the Bondi Beach apartment include a smart-control fireplace in the lounge, inset speakers, and air-conditioning.
Moreover, there is a hidden laundry, along with a private basement sauna and ensuite situated next to the double tandem parking.
The small block is ideally located just steps away from Icebergs dining rooms, the swimming club, gym, beach, and popular coastal walk.
