One of Sydney’s rare ‘castles’ for sale,

In the past 120 years, only two Australians have ever called this remarkable castle their home.

Innisfallen Castle, an English Gothic masterpiece, stands proudly overlooking the harbour, blending history with modern significance.

Commissioned in 1902, the castle is one of only eight in all of Sydney, making it quite unique.

With its thick walls and turrets, Innisfallen Castle was designed to resemble classical European castles, yet suits modern Australian life perfectly.

Boasting eight spacious bedrooms, the castle can accommodate a growing family with ease. Additionally, approved architectural plans by Fender Katsalidis allow for a four-bedroom extension.

This new addition will feature a 20-meter swimming pool, sauna, spa, and wine cellar, enhancing the estate’s appeal.

As a result, the castle will become a unique 12-bedroom property that offers unmatched luxury.

The listing provides insight into the castle’s history, which influenced the name of the surrounding harborside suburb.

Castle Cove was originally known as ‘Middle Harbour’ or ‘Little Sugar Loaf Peninsula.’ In 1920, Walter Burley Griffin renamed the area Castlecove.

The Geographical Names Board officially renamed it to Castle Cove in 1987, honoring the significance of Innisfallen Castle in the area.

In 1902, Innisfallen Castle was commissioned by the prominent New South Wales Parliament member, Hon. Henry Willis.

The castle was designed in the English Gothic perpendicular style, drawing inspiration from a ruined abbey in Killarney, Ireland.

Agent Paul Biller of Biller Property is currently overseeing the campaign for the castle’s sale and promotion.

Originally, the castle served as the central feature of a much larger estate, which was subdivided over time.

Today, the private block spans an impressive 8,333 square meters, offering a grand landholding by one of the world’s greatest harbours.

Adding to its significance in Sydney, the castle is built from sandstone that was quarried directly from the site.

Castle Cove is located on the lower north shore of the city, where the median house price is unavailable.

This is due to the low volume of sales, which further emphasizes the exclusivity of the area.
