Ms. Basile, originally from Australia, mentioned that while they can compromise on some aspects, certain deal-breakers are non-negotiable.
“We know this won’t be our forever home; the homes we’re looking at are quite small,” she said.
“Our dog struggles with the heat; therefore, we need reliable heating and cooling. Additionally, we prefer not to deal with a body corporate.”
Their long-term goal is to move to a suburb like Thornbury, Fitzroy, Hawthorn, or Fairfield, which offers more diversity in culture, lifestyle, and food.
Ms. Basile also noted her appreciation for the growing diversity in suburbs like Lalor, where her grandparents once lived.
She observed, “There are many Italians, Greeks, and now Indian, Egyptian, and Afghani families. The more diversity, the better.”
Sarah and Britney are looking for affordable homes in the northern part of Melbourne, and they see the diverse communities as a big plus.
Harcourts Rata & Co sales specialist Ron Singh mentioned that many first-home buyers are moving into Epping.
Additionally, Victorians are upgrading from units to family homes in the area.
Mr. Singh noted that there is ample stock on the market, which gives buyers leverage to negotiate prices, including for auctioned properties.
Moreover, he has observed an influx of Sydney-based buyers drawn to the affordable prices in Epping and surrounding areas.
