Tiny house sold cheaply following legal dispute,
Nestled on a quiet backstreet in Bristol, UK, a 44-square-metre garage was transformed into a home in 2022.
Although it’s compact, the building features all essential amenities for comfortable living, such as a kitchen, bathroom, and two separate storeys.
Recently, the property was listed for auction, with a guide price ranging from £25,000 to £50,000, or $AU48,000 to $AU97,000.
On auction day, it sold for a mere £30,000, approximately $AU58,000. At just one-eleventh of Bristol’s median home price, it appears to be an incredible bargain for the buyer.
However, there was a significant catch to the sale.
According to online auctioneers Hollis Morgan, the property was “suitable for cash buyers only due to an enforcement notice and alleged breach of planning control.”

In 2013, approval was given to convert the building into a garage, with plans for a workshop or craft room above.
The listing states, “The property was bought as a garage and later converted for potential residential or commercial use.”
However, until the enforcement notice and alleged planning breach are addressed, ongoing issues may arise for the new buyer.
